Bihar (Patna):- Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar, on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, today tied a protective thread to the Patli tree in Patna's capital Vatika-1. On the occasion of Bihar Tree Protection Day, the Chief Minister also planted a Patli tree in Rajdhani Vatika.
For the first time on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan on 13th August 2012, "Tree Protection Day" was launched by the Chief Minister. Its purpose is to make people aware of the environment and plant more and more trees and preserve the plants. To reduce the damage on the earth due to climate change, it is necessary to plant trees and save them. Tree plantation is being done under water-life-greenery. The green cover of the state has now become about 15 percent, which has been targeted to increase to 17 percent. For this the state government is making efforts. Eco-tourism is also being promoted in the state, for this an eco-tourism wing and eco-tourism policy is being formulated in the department. With all these efforts, the people of the state will be aware about the conservation of environment and animals and plantation.
